My Son Terran – Chapter 35

“I don’t want to go to the park today?” Terran was sitting next to me in the car, busy turning his Rubik’s cube. I had just picked him up from mom’s place.
I looked at him with concern.
“Why Champ? Are you alright?”
“I’m fine dad. I’m just tired.”
In a flash, an idea struck him and he looked at me excitedly.
“Can we invite mommy for dinner tonight?”
I smiled at him meaningfully. He didn’t want to go to the park, but he didn’t want to miss his time with Hannah either.

I was still not used to Terran calling her mommy. It appeared good and strange at the same time. It looked like she was part of us and yet far away.
“Well, we can ask her.” I said casually.
“Please call her. I will ask. She won’t say no to me.”
“Uh-huh!” I laughed.
“Okay.” I dialed Hannah’s number and put the phone on speaker.
While the ring was going, Terran put his finger on the lips, telling me to keep quiet. I grinned and nodded my head.

She came on the line.“Hello Grayson.”
“Hi mommy.”
“Hi my baby! When are you coming to the park? I’m waiting for you.” She said cheerfully.
“I’m not coming to the park today.”
“Why? Are you okay?” She was concerned.
“I’m fine. Just a little tired.”
“Did Toby make you run a lot?”
I hadn’t thought of that.
“Yes. He was ve’y naughty today.”
I was amused to hear that.
“Okay. Then you take a good rest. Where’s dad?”

“Hi Hannah. Are you already at the park?”
“Yes.”
“Hannah we wanted to ask, will you…?”
“I will ask.” Terran jumped up.
“Okay, you ask.”
“What is it?” She was baffled.
“Mommy I’m inviting you to come have dinner with us tonight. Please.”
“And what will my baby feed me?” She was pulling his leg.
“Whatever you want. Are you coming?” He asked eagerly.

“Grayson…”
“We’ll be happy to have you. But you’ll have to go through a drill with us before dinner.”
“A drill?” She was bewildered again.
“Yes. He wants to eat chicken nuggets, tomato soup, French fries and caramel custard. And nothing is there at home. So we’ll first have to go to the supermarket, shop for all the ingredients, go home, cook and only then will we get down to eat.”
“That’s fine by me. It will be so much fun.”
“Yeah!” Terran yelped.
“Mommy I want to eat your egg pudding also.”
“Two two desserts?” I asked.
Hannah laughed. “Okay my sweetheart, whatever you want.”
“I will help you to make the pudding.” He announced.
“Really, how?”
“I’ll beat the eggs.”
I was thoroughly enjoying his conversation with Hannah.
“Excellent! That will surely make my work easy.”

“Okay mommy, you stand outside the park. We are coming to pick you up.”
“Okay my love, see you soon.”
He disconnected the phone and was rocking in his jovial mood.

I gazed at him with affection.
“You love mommy.”
“Yes. Ve’y much. I’m waiting for her answer. When she will come and stay with us.”
Me too.
To Terran I said.
“But don’t ask her Champ. Let her reply on her own.”
He was still in his Rubik’s cube.
“Okay.”
